December 2009

Dear Friends,
Ephesians 3:20-21 - Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory - Even in these tough economic times, God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or think!  Once again, because of your faithfulness, we sent in over 10,000 Christmas Bags to Haiti.  New churches got on board and several of the “old” churches increased their giving.  God is so good!  The container is supposed to be at the dock as I write this letter and the goal is to have it unloaded by Christmas.  Please pray for God’s timing in all of this.
We have more pastors than ever asking for Christmas Bags.  Whether you sent 1 or 1000, you are making a difference in the lives of these children and we thank you!
In October we had two teams go into Haiti, back-to-back, which resulted in us being away from home for nearly the entire month.  But, what a great month it was!  The team from Lancaster, PA put a roof on one of the schools.  They worked very quickly and efficiently and had it up in no time.  Then a team from Pittsburgh worked at EBAC (Alice and Kathy’s orphanage).  They installed a new water tank (the toilets will flush now!) and built frames for mattresses that another team had donated.  They also built closets in the girls’ dorm.  Now each girl has three shelves to put their things on.
Gloria had found some Leap Frog kids’ books at a garage sale and took those with her to teach the kids at EBAC.  She was reading a story one day about cake and ice cream and realized the kids had never had ice cream!  She sent Stan on a mission (a pretty big mission  since ice cream is not to be found in Haiti and we’ve never even seen an ice cream cart…but, God had a plan).  The third place we stopped we found a man with an ice cream machine.  We hired him for the day (at 30 cents per cone) and passed out about 150 ice cream cones to those kids.  Stan had to convince them that ice cream was goooood!  Yummy!  We weren’t sure Gloria was going to come home after that!
I got so excited about the Christmas container and ice cream story that I completely skipped the Seedline Conference in September.  We had a great time of food, fellowship, music, and preaching.  If every you are in Indiana in September, you need to come to this tent meeting. It is quite amazing.  The last night, we turned off all the lights in the tent and everyone received a red (for Jesus’ blood) glow stick.  We each broke our glow stick one at a time to indicate the Gospel being spread throughout the world one person at a time.  It was quite a sight.  Then Brother Keith had us all shake our sticks at Satan!
Okay, back to the present...another container will be set at Seedline on December 9.  This one will be filled with the remaining Christmas bags, food, furniture, thousands of Scriptures, a wringer/washer for EBAC, 25,000 pounds of food, and 2000 pair of Crocks!  Thank you to everyone who donated these items.  If you’re in Indiana, we can always use willing hands to help load, just give Stan a call.
Just received word that our granddaughter, Amber, is pregnant. She is due in late May/early June.  Another granddaughter, Chelsea, won all-county honors in golf and volleyball.  We thank God for the blessing of our grandchildren and look forward to seeing them all over the next few weeks for Christmas.
Thank you for all of your support this past year, even during the tough times.  Please continue to pray for our ministry, the country of Haiti, and the United States.

Remember always that Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season.
